History – Welcome to KL AIRPORT

History

Malaysia Airports was incorporated in 1991, when the Malaysian Parliament passed a bill to separate the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) into two entities with different spheres of responsibility. Since then, Malaysia Airports has taken off, with operating, managing and maintaining airports not only in Malaysia but overseas as well.

The Minister of Transportations licenses Malaysia Airports as Malaysia's official airport operator

Opened

KL International Airport is opened

1999

 

First airport operator in Asia

Malaysia Airports is listed on the Main Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, becoming the first airport operator in Asia and the sixth in the world to be listed in a stock exchange

2004

 

Stake

50% of MoF(Inc) stake in Malaysia Airports is transferred to Khazanah, ending with 73% stake across the board

Top 20

Malaysia Airports is listed in Khazanah's Top 20 Government Linked Companies for high performance

Agreement

New Operating Agreements is signed for better operating practices

The Airbus A380 begins operations in KLIA
